The Lakers failed to sign Irving.

‘The Athletic’ reported on the 6th (hereinafter Korean time) about the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers negotiations for Kyrie Irving.

The Lakers overcame the bad news of Anthony Davis’ injury in their own way and prepared an opportunity for a rebound, but after Davis’ return, they have not produced any significant results. The Lakers, who have gone 안전놀이터2-3 in their last 5 games, are currently ranked 13th in the Western Conference.

However, Brooklyn demanded swap rights for Austin Reeves, Max Christie, and multiple first-round picks. Irving is a free agent this summer. It was unreasonable to put forth more future resources to acquire a player who could leave without even playing half the season. Reeves is also one of the key players in the Lakers’ current strength.

Even signing Irving couldn’t destroy the team’s future for an uncertain half-year rental in a situation where it was difficult to guarantee a championship. Besides, Irving, the best troublemaker in the league, might cause some trouble again in a short period of time. The Lakers came up with the best package they could realistically offer. 

The Dallas offer was certainly more attractive to Brooklyn than the Lakers, who lacked the resources to deliver. Ultimately, Irving went to Dallas as Dallas offered Spencer Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney-Smith in exchange. In the first place, it was a tough fight to beat Dallas even if the Lakers put in more. 

While he failed to become the lead role in the Irving drama, which he devoted his energy to, much attention is being paid to the next move of the Lakers. Few players have as much skill as Irving, but there are still players on the market who can help if they fit into the team. 

The problem is that the Lakers don’t have much time left. The NBA trade deadline is February 10th. It is the Lakers who have to win the competition with several clubs while satisfying other teams with just over four days left.
