South Korean midfielder Hwang In-beom (Tsubena Zbezda) will face Manchester City (England) on the ‘stage of the stars’.
The European Football Association (UEFA) on Thursday finalized the rosters of the 32 teams competing in the Champions League. The list submitted by Serbian professional soccer club Zvezda included Hwang’s name. Hwang was listed as number 66.카지노
Hwang signed a four-year contract with Zvezda on May 5. As part of the deal, Zvezda paid his former club Olympiacos (Greece) a transfer fee of 5 million euros (approximately 7.3 billion won). This is the largest transfer fee in Zvezda’s history.
In the middle of last season, Hwang left Kubin Kazan (Russia) for K League One FC Seoul on loan following the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war, and then moved to Olympiakos in the summer transfer window.
Immediately after joining the club, Hwang established himself as a regular midfielder, scoring three goals and providing four assists in 32 league appearances. He was named the club’s Player of the Year for his role as the team’s offensive link.
Based on his performance, Hwang decided to move on. Hwang’s side argued that there was no problem with a transfer fee of €3 million (approx. KRW 4.4 billion) because his contract with Olympiakos was for 1+2 years, while the club argued that it was a three-year contract and that he should receive a transfer fee of €10 million (approx. KRW 14.5 billion).
As the two sides remained at loggerheads, Hwang’s transfer seemed virtually impossible, but Zvezda made a dramatic exit from Olympiakos just before the transfer window closed.
Zvezda is a prestigious club that has won the Serbian professional soccer Superliga nine times, the most of any club, and also won the UEFA Champions League in the 1990-1991 season. They will be competing in the Champions League again this season.
Hwang hasn’t even made his league debut yet, but Zvezda didn’t hesitate to add him to the Champions League roster after seeing his performances last season and with the national team.
Zvezda is drawn in the Champions League this season with Manchester City, RB Leipzig (Germany), and Young Boys (Switzerland) in the group stage.
