The NC Dinos are a typical organization that is unusually strong in recruiting foreign players. And the “foreigner’s uniform” is still in effect.메이저놀이터
NC Express foreign pitcher Pedi is the sole leader in wins. Pedi pitched a flawless six innings of one-hit ball against Doosan in the ‘2023 KBO League’ at Jamsil Stadium on the 28th to lead the team to victory.
With NC’s victory, Pedi reached his 11th win of the season and overtook LG Plutko (10 wins) to become the league leader in wins.
It didn’t end there. Despite taking the mound for the first time in 19 days due to a sore elbow and a rainout, Pedi remained in top form, lowering his season ERA to 1.61 from 1.74 and moving into the lead in that category as well.
There’s no question that Kiwoom Ahn is the best pitcher in the KBO right now. In fact, he won the Golden Glove last year with a 15-8 record, 2.11 ERA, and 224 strikeouts, and he’s continued to pitch exceptionally well this season.
However, coincidentally, on the same day as Pedi’s start against KIA, Ahn Woo-jin had his worst outing of the season, giving up five runs on six hits in 5.1 innings. As a result, his ERA jumped to 2.00 and he lost ground to Pedi, and he is still one win away from the top pitcher spot with only five wins.
Pedi’s performance has the NC organization in stitches.
NC has always had a history of bringing in quality foreign players, starting with Eric Hacker, followed by Luchinski, and now Pedi. On the batting side, Eric Thames remains the best player in the club’s history.
Hacker, who has been with the organization since its inception, spent five years in a Dinosaurs uniform, most notably winning a Golden Glove in 2015 for his stellar pitching performance with a 19-5 record and 3.13 ERA.
Ruchinski is no slouch either. Luchinski, who played in NC for four years until last year, has a career record of 53-36 with a 3.06 ERA and a great work ethic. Pedi has also quickly integrated into the team and has the potential to be a long-lasting foreign player.
No foreign pitcher has ever posted a sub-1 ERA in the KBO. The lowest ERA was 2.07 by Doosan Rios in 2007. It remains to be seen if Pedi can continue his exceptional pitching and write his name in history.
